About two weeks ago I was looking online for ways to market my website. I started talking to some people that know a great deal about marketing websites and one of them said in a nutshell: Find a site with a lot of traffic that will allow you to promote your site. They said to look for big forums and social networking sites that allow some type of cheap advertising or something. He sent a link to www.big-boards.com. I landed on a website called www.offtopic.com. Its the largest general discussion forum on the internet as far as I know. Once there, in order to get directly into the main section where THOUSANDS of people are posting, you have to pay $25, but that buys you a signature with links and an avatar that you can use to promote your stuff.

In my past experience with forums, there's usually drama but it geenrally includes the people who've been members for a while. After I posted a few things, the amount of interest in ME went way up because I posted a signature. Here is that signature.

You would have thought I'd posted gigantic banner ads everywhere. I started getting PMs from their moderators telling me to stop posting my signature because the people were being whiny. From that point on it was a CONSTANT attack on me anytime I said anything. When that came, I just kind of had fun with them and tried to piss them off even further, which was QUITE easy.

Well, eventually one of their guys who sounded like he was 12, and I assume he isn't much older called my voicemail. Its on the site here if you haven't seen it.

He thought he was really doing something big. He asked that I call him back, which I did. After calling him it was a downer because it was too easy to make him sound as ignorant as he was. Its pathetic, as is all of this, but if you haven't heard that, here.

After that weak sauce call and voicemail, the guy "Ginger" went back to his online crew there that consists of a bunch of Vienna Boys Choir rejects, and touted that he'd really scored with his call. Then they all flocked to my message board, and tried to post nasty pix to get back. I know, BRUTAL right? After the awful mauling by me on the phone I asked them all to call up as HE did. NOT ONE SINGLE PERSON took me up on that. NOT ONE out of thousands of Vienna Boys Choir boys. They HAVE however, do what they do best which is type the same old shit on their little message boards.

I've really gotten inside their heads. They continue to make therad after thread after thread. They have NOT been played; I repeat: THEY HAVE NOT BEEN PLAYED at all. My numbers on my website haven't gone up AT ALL; I REPEAT: MY SITE NUMBERS HAVEN'T GONE UP AT ALL.

Man. So easily done.

I *AM* still waiting on ONE of them to call up to speak with me. I invite any of them to call and dare any of them to sound HALF way intelligent without using abbreviations in that conversation. "IL"--"LOL"--"ROFLMAO"--etc. etc. etc.

I spoke the other day about how the internet has truly dumbed us down. Go back up there and read some of those posts. I enjoy going to forums. I think its a blast to share stories, share pictures, share opinions, etc. Going there all day to bag on each other back and forth and back and forth and back and forth is beyond me though. They've gone and hacked into my wife's website where we had the domain name. They continue to sift around the internet all day long trying to dig up anything they can. they've spent HOURS on that stuff. Why?

THAT IS IT!

That forum is made up of young men and boys. I beg you. If you're a parent, please try to get your lazy and unmotivated young man away from the keyboard and get him involved in SOMEthing other than sitting on that all day long. I love the internet as muh as anyone, but a young boy, like these people are on that forum need something else to occupy their time. They think I'm trying to be funny when I say this, but I swear to GOD I am not, I think its sad. The little guy I called after he left his messages...he was absolutely sad. I mean, I wonder what kind of social life these people will have not only now, but think about how deteriorated their social skills will be by the time they get out of puberty and hit 30! THAT is some kind of shocking. Not to mention, one of THOSE boys will be running our Country? GOD HELP US ALL.

A few people asked why I'm bothering with all of this shit. Well, its mildly entertaining for one, and 2, it sure points out a harsh reality about this day and age doesn't it?
