Kramer is a radio veteran with 18 years experience in major markets including Tampa, Dallas, San Francisco, Detroit, Birmingham,Orlando, Little Rock, St. Louis and more. He is 37 years old and is married to Christy. The two live in New Town, MO (Near St. Louis) with their 4 year old son, Cash.
Kramer (Keith) and his wife decided they liked the St. Louis area, and have opened a business together so they could stay in the area to grow some roots. Kramer has been a virtual vagabond since 1990, moving from city to city to city chasing his radio dream. Now, a little more settled down plus the addition of their son, it seemed like it was time to plant somewhere, and St. Louis seemed like the place to do it. Christy owns Bella Chic, a women's boutique in Cottleville, MO which sells hip women's "STUFF".
Kramer was let go of his on-air duties at KTRS, St. Louis in January of 2007 after the station decided it was going to change the direction in which it was going. Directly following that departure, he half heartedly looked for a radio job. Instead of concentrating on commercial radio, he decided to embrace online radio, which he believes is an incredible opporunity as a new medium. Of course there are links all over the site to hear his radio show.
Kramer was born in Sheffield, AL June 29th, 1970. His mother is Judy; father Kenneth. Kramer has one younger brother who is 30 years old who still resides in Alabama. He was a fairly good student through school, and was involved in music since a very early age. He was consistently one of the most talented musicians in the school. He was always encouraged to go to college because of a seemingly natural ability in music. In 1988, he attended Jacksonville Univeristy in Jacksonville, AL - a University that was known for its impressive music department. In his second semester he met Rodney who became a good friend, who happened to work at a small town radio station. Kramer had gotten burnt on music and was looking for something else to put passion into. Rodney suggested that he go try out for a weekend slot that was open. After going to the radio station to read news, which he'd never done before, for the audition, they hired him on the spot. It was an AM, 1KW top forty radio station that signed off at 10PM. Kramer announced records that began to play through the click of a light switch near the record console. You could hear the scratches in the records as they ramped up to the intro of the song.
As time went on, Kramer went from small market to small market trying to learn as much as he could learn from everyone around him. He eventually was heard by Ken Wall while he was doing his show in Gadsden, AL. Ken was the Program Director of WZYP in Huntsville, AL. WZYP was the big top forty station in Huntsville. Ken hired him to do the night show. A year later, Kramer was doing his show when Marc Chase called him. Chase was a major programmer for Clear Channel who happened to be FROM Alabama himself. Marc was driving home to Montgomery from Cincinatti, heard Kramer, called him and offered him the night gig in Tampa, FL Kramer accepted and took over for the now (in)famous Bubba The Love Sponge.
Kramer met Anthony Longo in Tampa. Tony would call Kramer on the request line and do bits. Tony was a very eager, bright, and funny young man. He'd always loved radio and it was his dream to get into the business. The two finally met, and Kramer got him an internship at WFLZ. When Dallas came knocking, one of the stipulations for Kramer to take the gig was he had to be able to bring Tony with him. The two landed in Dallas and took the city like an atomic BOOM. They began on Clear Channel's MIX 102.9, an adult contemprary radio station. The two, together were absolute energy, creativity, and boldness. The company decided they would be a better fit on the AOR (ROCK) station named 97-1 THE EAGLE. The 1st ratings book that came out with THE KRAMER SHOW on 97.1 proved that someone had made the right decision to put the show on the EAGLE. They were number one consistently in almost every demographic in Dallas, TX. Upon that success, the show began getting syndication offers. It was on in many city's all over the Country.
From Dallas, the show went to afternoons in San Francisco on Clear Channel's ROCK station while maintaining it's NUMBER ONE RATED night show in Dallas and in the syndicated markets. From there it was time for the show to grow into a talk show. The show moved to a CBS station in Detroit known as 97.1 FM TALK. From there they (Kramer and Twitch) were promoted to mornings in Orlando, FL. THAT's when everyone wanted to tinker with the show, thus its decline in ratings. After the debacle in Orlando, Kramer had his son Cash and decided to go on his own. The pair disbanded. Tony went on to Lexington, KY and Kramer went onto Little Rock, AR.
From LR, it was on to St. Louis. Kramer's wife, Christy had followed him from coast to coast - from North to South as you can possibly go in the Country. Seeing her dedication and seeing, eventually, her eagerness to grow roots, the two decided it was time to get off the radio train for a while. They are taking life much slower these days, enjoying their new home, their son, and their new business venture. Kramer is excitedly doing the website, the online show, and doing some other things related to Christy's ever growing business. At some point, he will for sure spread his wings and fly right back into the radio business like a moth to a flame. Until then you can hear what he does best everyday on the online radio show.
